Mule Deer
We hunt our mule deer in Weston, Campbell, Crook, Sheridan, and Johnson counties in Wyoming. We lease over 225,000 acres of private property. These areas hold excellent numbers of trophy-class animals.

Bow season runs September 1–30. This is a classic spot and stalk hunt. They are guided either 1x1 or 2x1. Over the past fourteen years, our bow hunters have averaged over 90% shooting opportunity. The success rate is near 75%. During this past 2007 season, 6 bow hunters harvested 6 bucks. They also missed 2 and hit 3, not recovered.

Rifle season runs October 1–30 and November 1–20. They are fully guided five-day hunts, either 2x1 or 1x1. Because the areas we hunt are private, we use 4x4s to get around. However, some of our country is extremely rough. The better a hunter is able to get around physically will help during the hunt. We hunt mule deer, spot and stalk.

Over the years, our success rate has been 80% to 95%. Through the years we have averaged taking 4 to 8 bucks a season, grossing over 180 BC. Our average width on deer is 25 inches.

The 2005 season success rate was 96%. We harvested six deer over 180 BC. The largest buck grossed 192 BC. Additionally, a number of bucks were 170 BC plus. The widest buck taken was 32 inches, with an average width of 25 to 26 inches. The past 2006 season turned out to be very good. The success rate was 95%. Five bucks taken were over 180 BC, the largest being a 186 BC. We harvested many quality, mature bucks.

This past 2007 season was not as successful as what it should have been. We had many missed opportunities at quality, mature bucks. Three bucks taken were over 180 BC, with the largest being 183 BC. Our October hunters had a success rate of 85% and harvested many nice, mature deer. The six rifle hunters in November harvested 6 bucks, averaging 165 BC.

With the missed opportunities of 2007 and the deer that we did not harvest, we are really looking forward to the upcoming 2008 season.

The license draw success for the Non-Resident Draw, in the mule deer areas, has been 100% successful the last nine years. The fee for a license is $326.00. License fees and dates are subject to change according to Wyoming Game and Fish. We assist all our hunters with the license application process.
